What we do

We partner with governments, international organizations, civil society, and communities to tackle some of society’s most pressing challenges.
Our work spans gender equity, justice systems, climate change, water security, governance, social cohesion, and humanitarian response.
We connect local realities with global expertise, having worked with organizations including UNDP, the World Bank, and Isla Urbana to drive meaningful transformation.

Our approach is rooted in systems thinking—understanding how different elements influence each other and designing interventions that create ripple effects of positive change.
We don’t believe in quick fixes. We’re committed to creating tangible impact that unfolds over time, addressing root causes rather than symptoms.

Our Services

SYSTEMS CHANGE METHODOLOGIES – We help organisations understand and shift the underlying structures, relationships, and mindsets that perpetuate complex problems.

INNOVATION STRATEGY – We design and implement creative approaches to longstanding challenges, bringing fresh thinking to entrenched problems.

PROGRAM DESIGN – We develop effective, evidence-based programs tailored to the unique context of each challenge and community.

FACILITATION & COACHING – We guide teams and coalitions through collaborative processes that build alignment, unlock creativity, and drive action.

RESOURCE MOBILISATION – We help organizations secure the resources they need to create impact, with a track record of raising more than $14 million USD for social impact projects.

TECHNICAL EXPERTISE – We provide specialized knowledge and capacity building across our focus sectors, empowering teams to lead change themselves.

Why Astronomos?

Astronomos is the name of the street in Mexico City where this work began. We were drawn to the idea of grounding ourselves in a specific place while reaching toward something vast and universal—much like astronomers themselves.

Astronomers study the universe from great distances, gaining perspective on how celestial bodies move and influence one another. Similarly, we step back to see the bigger picture of social systems, understanding their interconnections and patterns. We explore the unknown, uncover hidden truths, and search for innovative pathways forward.

Like astronomical events that unfold over vast timescales, we focus on long-term, sustainable change. And just as the stars have historically guided navigation, we help organizations navigate complex social landscapes toward their goals.

Astronomy also inspires awe and wonder—a reminder that transformation is possible and that joy must be part of how we work. We believe that creating change should be energizing, not depleting, and we bring that spirit to everything we do.

Our Approach

We work as a collective, bringing together the right constellation of expertise for each challenge. This allows us to offer flexible, tailored solutions rather than one-size-fits-all approaches. We believe that the most powerful change happens when we combine deep local knowledge with global perspectives, when we listen to those on the frontlines of complex challenges, and when we create space for innovation and joy.

Whether we’re supporting a local justice system to redesign its response to gender-based violence, helping an organization develop a climate financing strategy, or facilitating a coalition to tackle sustainable forestry, we bring the same commitment: to understand the system, to work collaboratively, bring exciting ways to tackle the problem and to create impact that improves people’s lives.

Our People

Our Founder – Echo Collins-Egan

Echo Collins-Egan is a London and Mexico City-based systems change strategist and gender specialist with fourteen years of experience transforming systems in sixteen countries. As the former Chief Impact Officer of RE!NSTITUTE, she oversaw the implementation of systems change initiatives across the world, specializing in justice systems, global health, innovation, and governance. Since leaving in 2024, she has been deepening her practice at the intersection of climate change, climate financing, gender, and systems thinking, working with partners in Kazakhstan, Mexico, São Tomé and Príncipe, and the UAE.

Echo has raised over $14 million USD for social impact programs.

Echo is an expert in systems change strategy and change management methodologies. She led the implementation of 100-Day Challenges in Justice Systems for eight years in countries including Mexico with USAID and the Dominican Republic with the World Bank, and was one of the original trainers of the Government Accelerator in the UAE in collaboration with the Prime Minister’s Office. She has delivered training and facilitated events for the World Bank, UNDP, ILO, Joint Learning Network for Universal Health Coverage (JLN) and the UK’s NHS, and gave a TEDx talk on new paradigms for development.

Echo founded Astronomos as a platform for collaborative problem-solving—a space where flexibility, creativity, and freedom enable experts and partners to come together.

Pepe Chanona

Pepe Chanona is a Mexico City–based programme manager and social impact practitioner whose work is driven by curiosity and a desire to understand how complex systems shape people’s lives. That curiosity has taken him across countries, sectors, and disciplines, working with governments, international organizations, and civil society actors on challenges ranging from social justice and gender equality to climate adaptation and public innovation.

His practice began in 2014 during his studies at UNAM, where he founded the HeForShe institutional chapter—an experience that sparked a long-term commitment to gender equality, collective action, and institutional change. Since then, Pepe has supported programme delivery across complex projects in Mexico, Honduras, the Dominican Republic, and the DRC, contributing to programme design, grant management, and proposal development in collaboration with a mix of institutions, organizations, and international funders.

At Astronomos, Pepe works closely with Echo to coordinate, manage, and expand the Astronomos vision, supporting programme development, partnerships, and project delivery.
He bridges strategy and execution, bringing a thoughtful, hands-on approach to the studio’s collaborative work.

Our Constellation

Complex challenges don’t have neat edges — and neither do we. Astronomos operates as a living constellation: a flexible, ever-evolving network of world-class experts, practitioners, and organisations that assembles around what each challenge truly demands.

When a project lands, we don’t assign a generic team — we design one. Sometimes that’s Echo working one-on-one with a Ministry of Justice to architect a systems change effort. Sometimes it’s Echo, Pepe and a group of 14 incredible architects and designers co-facilitating a nascent collective building toward sustainable forestry. Sometimes it means bringing in a strategic communications and design team like Boo.Design to sharpen how an impact story is told to the world.
